WHAT ARE WE CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
TREATMENT PLANT UPDATE
We are making progress on our Water Treatment Plant. This Plant will allow us to provide you with better drinking water by removing items such as manganese (those black spots in your water). Unfortunately when the bills from the contractors were received, the amount to build the plan as designed as too costly. The design has been updated and we are looking for it to go back out to bid in January 2025.
LEAD & COPPER INVENTORY
We have received direction from the Environmental Protection Agency and NH Department of Environmental Services notifying us that we have to complete a full inventory of the connection from our water mains to the meter in your home. We previously sent out a notification about this process and how you can help. The Service Line Inventory was submitted to NH DES in October. In November we needed to send out letters letting our customers know if they were on a line considered "Unknown", which means either our side of the connection or the customer side of the connection has a connection where we are not sure of what it is. There were also letters sent to those people who we know have Galvanized Pipes. These pipes will need to be replaced by 2037. Please click here to see additional information and Fact Sheets from the EPA explaining additional information. If you are one of those households that received a letter, you can contact us to see if it is your side of the pipe that will need to be replaced, or the company side. Please feel free to give us a call if you need help from us.
STORY MAP
Have you ever wondered how the Tilton & Northfield Aqueduct and Tilton-Northfield Water District came to be? Well, our Story Map has been completed. Feel free to check it out by clicking here.
CELLULAR METERS
We are also in the process of upgrading all the meters in our system with a cellular reading meter. This is a safe system that is similar to how your cell phone works. However, it will allow us to receive your meter readings directly from your meter. We realize that this may mean you will miss seeing our guys walk around your house to get a meter reading, but this process will allow us to have more accurate information about your meter, such as: a) If it is getting to a level where it will freeze (no one wants to pay for a new meter because theirs froze), b) If you have water running continuously for a 24 hour period, we can give you a call letting you know that you may have a leak (such as those pesky running toilets that use a lot of water), c) with the new Eye on Water system that you can sign up for once your new meter is installed, you will be able to track how much water you are using and see your water history. We have currently installed over 400 meters and we are continuing to get them installed.
NEW BILLING SYSTEM
We are currently in the process of reviewing different Utility Billing software that will allow you more flexibility with your account. It is important for us to grow with the times and offer a program where you can pay your bill online, review your bill online, and more. We will keep you updated when we have chosen the new program and when you may be able to see these advancements. Stay tuned.
As you can tell, we have a lot going on. Some things we are regulated to do and some will: *make your water taste better, *make paying your bill easier, *remove lead in your water, and give you piece of mind when it comes to your water system.
The Commissioner's meeting date has changed from the 2nd Monday of the month to the 1st Monday of the month.
