WHAT ARE WE CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
TREATMENT PLANT UPDATE
We are making progress on our Water Treatment Plant. This Plant will allow us to provide you with better drinking water by removing items such as manganese (those black spots in your water). Within the next couple of weeks the final plans will be forwarded to the NH Department of Environmental Services for acceptance. Once approval is received, we will be able to start the bidding process, choose the construction company, and start the building process. Our treatment plant will be located on Route 140 where our wells are located now. Watch for a sign on the side of the road letting you know that part of the project is funded from federal grants.
LEAD & COPPER INVENTORY
We have received direction from the Environmental Protection Agency and NH Department of Environmental Services notifying us that we have to complete a full inventory of the connection from our water mains to the meter in your home. We previously sent out a notification about this process and how you can help. If you need another copy click here. If it is possible for you to update your information online, it would be greatly appreciated. Anyone who we don't have information for by May 24th, will be considered as having a lead service line until we can make an appointment to review the piping that is coming into your home. Feel free to give us a call if you need help from us.
STORY MAP
Have you ever wondered how the Tilton & Northfield Aqueduct and Tilton-Northfield Water District came to be? Well, we will soon be answering that question. We are working on a history of the companies along with a story map that you will be able to click through for information. We will keep you informed as this progresses along and when it will be available.
CELLULAR METERS
We are also in the process of upgrading all the meters in our system with a cellular reading meter. This is a safe system that is similar to how your cell phone works. However, it will allow us to receive your meter readings directly from your meter. We realize that this may mean you will miss seeing our guys walk around your house to get a meter reading, but this process will allow us to have more accurate information about your meter, such as: a) If it is getting to a level where it will freeze (no one wants to pay for a new meter because theirs froze), b) If you have water running continuously for a 24 hour period, we can give you a call letting you know that you may have a leak (such as those pesky running toilets that use a lot of water), c) with the new Eye on Water system that you can sign up for once your new meter is installed, you will be able to track how much water you are using and see your water history.
NEW BILLING SYSTEM
Our current billing system has been bought out by a larger system that will allow us to offer you the capabilities of looking at your own past water usage and billing information. We will also have the capability to offer email billing and the option for you to go online and pay your bill that way, or have the system pull the money from your account. This transition should be starting in May and may take a couple of months to be fully transitioned. We are looking forward to being able to offer you capabilities you have been asking for.
As you can tell, we have a lot going on. Some things we are regulated to do and some will: *make your water taste better, *make paying your bill easier, *remove lead in your water, and give you piece of mind when it comes to your water system.
The Commissioner's meeting date has changed from the 2nd Monday of the month to the 1st Monday of the month.
